Interview with Sir Al Aynsley-Green

Part of Life was privileged to sit down for an interview with first Children’s Commissioner for England, ex-President of the British Medical Association (BMA) and first Director of Clinical Research and Development at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, London.

Over a long and successful professional life Sir Al has gained a wealth of experience, which he’s channeled into improving the lives of children and young people

A trained children’s physician and clinical scientist, Sir Al has occupied many first roles including the first National Clinical Director for Children in Government. Amongst other distinguished positions, he is now Visiting Professor of Advocacy for Children and Childhood at Nottingham Trent University, UK, and Professor Emeritus of Child Health, University College London, plus a Patron of the following charities:

  • Mosaic Bereavement Care

  • Contact (formerly Contact–a–Family)

  • Action for Sick Children

  • Association for Young People’s Health

  • Childhood Bereavement Network

His honest and passionate plea for children to be seen and heard in the context of a dying parent is urgent and vital to the future of our next generation. Based upon his own childhood bereavement and its subsequent impact on his personal life, Sir Al’s insight is like no other and deserves twenty minutes of your time.
